There are three main research buildings, aquarium, ocean data room, etc. Facility for diving is well maintained. In the laboratories, facilities for molecular cell biology and biochemistry are available, including DNA sequencer, mass spectrometer, electrophoretic apparatus, centrifuge, several light microscopes, electron microscope, confocal microscopy, HPLC, deep freezer, etc.

The center maintains research vessels,
the Tsukuba Ⅱ (19 t, 612 HP×2,40 persons),
the Caretta (0.5t, 9.9HP, for 6 persons),
the SMRC (Inflatable boat, 8 HP, for 4 persons)
