A wide variety of organisms exist on Earth, yet only a small fraction have been described; many unknown species can still be encountered in the field. Understanding what kinds of organisms live where, and how they survive in those environments, provides the foundation for all biological research. Our research aims to elucidate how marine biodiversity has emerged and been maintained, primarily through systematic and phylogenetic studies of marine invertebrates.
